This is one of several monuments in Fayette County that stemmed as a result of a lawsuit at the local middle school where a monument was placed in 1957 by the local eagles club. To defend the values of religion, a group then known as Rocks of Liberty placed this and about 40 other monuments throughout not only Fayette County, but other counties as well. Sadly, the lawsuit resulted in the 1957 monument being moved off the school campus to an adjacent church property.
