This plaque is located on a stone just outside the Detweiler Meetinghouse in Roseville, Ontario.
The plaque is in memory of Lance Corporal Kenneth Laverne Fried, a member of the Essex Scottish Regiment, R.C.I.C.
He died liberating Xanten, Germany on March 8th, 1945. Thirty-three other members of his regiment died that day as well (his regiment had the highest casualty rate of the war for Canadians). Details of the battle can be read here (
