In Boston's Dorchester neighborhood is the Cedar Grove Cemetery, which has this obelisk for the Howland family.

Cedar Grove Cemetery is located near the southern edge of Boston and is next to an estuary along the Neponset River. The cemetery is bounded by Granite Avenue, Milton Street, Adams Street, and Butler Street. The main entrance is at the intersection of Adams Street and Milton Street.

From the main entrance, go straight, veer left at the triangular intersection, then follow the road to the obelisk on the right.

The obelisk is a light stone structure set with other grave stones. It extends about 15 feet high. It has a four-stepped square-block base, a slowly tapering mid section, and a pyramidal top. has the name, "Howland" embossed on the front. There are names of people and ranges of years below them on the front and side.
