Opposite the T-intersection of George Street with O'Connell Street, in the Murray Garden is a concrete or sandstone pedestal on a circular sandstone base with a smallish horizontal brass Sundial, with a substantial patina. As well as the usual adjustments for various times of year, to add or subtract time from the shadow, is the following cast inscription.
"BE AS TRUE TO EACH OTHER AS
THIS DIAL IS TO THE SUN."
