Elle fut bâtie entre 1955 et 1956, son architecture fait irrésistiblement penser aux stations américaines de la Route 66 à l'architecture "streamline".
Jouxtant un restaurant routier, le relais "Charles Martel" distribua des carburants OZO puis Total (on peut encore apercevoir le liseré bleu sur la façade) jusqu'à la fin des années 1980. Il était ouvert jour et nuit excepté du samedi soir au dimanche soir avant d'être recyclé en bureau de vente de voitures d'occasions dans les années 1990. Son totem fut alors utilisé comme enseigne pour le restaurant "L'Etoile du Sud" aujourd'hui fermé.
