A large Mountsorrel granite cross at the top of a hill near St Paul's church, Woodhouse Eaves, with a memorial of granite set into the bedrock beneath, bearing plaques of Swithland slate with gold inscription (WW1 larger and above WW2). The site was donated by William Curzon-Herrick.

"Large square sectioned granite cross set on an outcrop of rock, at top of hill. At a lower level, an array of 6 incised slate tablets in two ranks of three, are set, larger WW1 upper rank into & smaller WW2 lower rank onto, a wide stone wall. Tablet inscriptions are infilled with gold coloured paint & incised wall inscription infilled with black paint. c14 stone steps & associated handrail support, lead up to wall area of memorial from roadside pavement through a rock garden. Wreaths are laid at the wall rather than at base of cross. Flagpole behind cross."

The people of Woodhouse Eaves beg those who
may visit this place to bear in mind that the war
Memorial is Sacred to the memory of those who
have died to defend their country and uphold
the right.
It is hoped that all those who come will treat the
Memorial with the reverence which is due to
the Fallen.

may light perpetual shine upon them "
