Near the centre of Forest Cemetery, is a large stone Civil War memorial which has stood, possibly on this spot, for 110 years, as of 2017.

On the north side of the memorial, standing at its foot on the stone pavers, is a granite slab, a memorial to the Veterans of World War I. The slab is about four inches thick and stands about 2½ feet in height. On the north face are inscribed the following words. It was dedicated in 1927.

AND THEIR LADIES AUXILIARY
WHO GAVE SO MUCH OF
THEMSELVES DURING W.W. I.
1917 - 1918
