Made by Per. Way. Shop, in Newcastle, in 1926 (by a cast mark on the side of it), this squat metal reservoir is standing high on 16 square steel posts with cross-bracing. It looks like the outlet pipe is now capped, and the area is now an Emergency Assembly Area.
It is just down the hill from Cornwallis Street, and uphill from the diagonal footpath from the Redfern Rail Station and the Workshop. Undoubtedly it supplied pressure for water used in the Railway Workshops.
