I had the choice of Mississippi, Tennessee, Illinois and Wisconsin for locations on this longitude, and decided to go with my home state of Illinois. I grew up in NE Illinois, between Chicago and Milwaukee Wisconsin, so I looked at the map to see if there was any good possible locations I could find. Starved Rock State Park looked VERY promising, and only 108 miles away from my hometown of Mundelein.
I had contacted Cldisme (Colin) once before to try for the International Space Station Sighting category, but couldn't work out a good date to work that one. So I re-contacted him to see if he would be interested in this. Boy, I had to really twist his arm to get him to do some waymarking in a state park close to his home (he was as interested as I was!) But we did decide to wait a bit for the weather to get better (parks look better and it's nicer to wander doing waymarking when the temps are above freezing.)
Colin got a chance to make the trip at the end of February and found a couple of very nice areas of the park with the proper coordinates, Wildcat Canyon, Bluff and River Trails.
