Sasco is a mining ghost town located southwest of Red Rock. It began in 1903 when a number of small mining claims in the area were consolidated into the Silverbell mining district. The area was soon home to 600 people working the mines, power plant and mill as well as grocery store, hotel and saloons. The town died by 1921 due to the influenza outbreak of 1918, financial troubles and copper prices. It had disappeared by 1933. The cemetery, now privately owned, continues to be used by the ranching community in the area. There are numerous gravesites evident, some very recent. A number of graves are marked with cement crosses, those were influenza victims. The cemetery is fenced off and marked with no trespassing signs. Given the general destruction of other ruins in the area, this is a positive move by the current nearby residents. ( visit link)
