ASARCO started in 1899 as a conglomerate of silver mining companies. Currently they are a large producer of copper and other minerals. They operate three mines in Arizona, this one is outside the ghost town of Silver Bell. In 1910 the company acquired a number of mining claims in the Silver Bell area and began open pit operations. The most obvious witness to the mine operation are the significant tailings dumps that dominate the area.

Any Other information: Lying just outside the mine boundaries are the two original mining towns of Silver Bell and Silverbell, each is a ghost town and each has an associated cemetery. These can be reached by dirt roads skirting the mining operation.
