The National Capital Commission (NCC) maintains waypoint signs throughout the Greenbelt, a natural area which surrounds the city of Ottawa. The waypoints mark trail intersections. The signs include geographic co-ordinates and a map of other waypoints.

Waypoint sign 21 J marks the trail intersection with a short trail from the old gate along Timm Drive. To the west and south, the trail was once a vehicle track following a north-south property line marked by the remnant of a stone fence. NCC trail #21 heads east, parallel to Timm Drive, on its way to parking lot P4.

The geographic co-ordinates on the sign are more than 170 metres in error. There is nothing of interest at the signed co-ordinates. The error is not an obvious typograhical error. Perhaps the error was caused when minutes were no longer used in the calculations.
