This handsome grey granite monument in honor of Henry B. Joy, the first President of the Lincoln Highway Association, stands at the rest area overlook along the I-80 east of Laramie.
The monument with its lovely relief of a (then modern and now antique) automobile, with Oregon Trail pioneers, Lewis and Clark, Native Americans and fur trappers in the background. The monument text reads as follows:
"That there should be a Lincoln Highway across this country is an important thing."
In Memory of Henry B. Joy, the first President of the Lincoln Highway Association who saw realized the dream of a continuous improved highway from the Atlantic to the Pacific.
