This is one of the thousands of culverts constructed by the WPA in Oklahoma.

This culvert is located about one-half mile east of Hiwassee Road on Coffee Creek Road. Unless you were looking for it (and we were), you could easily miss it. All that is visible from the road are two short sections of concrete curbing.

The reinforced concrete tunnel is approximately 3 ft. high and 5 ft. wide and crosses Coffee Creek from north to south. It was constructed in 1936 and still functions today to keep water run-off from impeding travel on the road.
