Marker text:

A YOUNG CARPENTER'S WEDDING GIFT 1872
White balustrades gleamed against the new red bricks when, German born, Bernard Taubeler presented this house to his bride.
A century later it became St. Peters City Hall, 1967-1976 and Police Headquarters, 1974-82.

I can find very little other than what is on the historic marker.
The current police department is in the Justice Center, huge and fancy.
St. Peters in the 70s and 80s was small. 486 people in 1970 to 15,000 by 1980 and almost 60,000 today.
So, with only 486 people this building was the perfect size for the police department and city hall of that day.
