This is one of two area communities bearing the name of W.B. Allen. This one was the first, near his land on Honey Grove Creek, and both a Baptist church and a Methodist church were established soon after. Ultimately, a community arose around the Methodist church, which is to the west, and it became Allen's Chapel, in whose cemetery Mr. Allen is buried.
