The church floors its volumes built on the craggy rock of the left bank. Behind the medieval house, rue du Puit Cornet rested its hands against the cliff where the crypt St. Catherine serves as the base of the sanctuary.
Yet closed ramparts, the city has always been in contact with the rural world. The flocks came to drink at the river below the "Brouard" (drinking trough) and passed on the old bridge.

L'église étage ses volumes construits sur le rocher escarpé de la rive gauche. Derrière la maison médiévale, la rue du Puit Cornet appuie ses mains contre la falaise où la crypte Sainte-Catherine sert de soubassement au sanctuaire.
Pourtant close de remparts, la ville a toujours été au contact avec le monde rural. Les troupeaux venaient s'abreuver à la rivière en bas du "Brouard" (abreuvoir) et passaient sur le vieux pont.
