The small Onofrio fountain was built by Craftsman Onofrio de Cava. It was one of a few end points for the recently (1436) completed aqueduct system that brought fresh water to the city from the mountains some 12 kilometers away.
The fountain, located just off the square in front of the St Blaise bell tower, features a wonderfully carved spout on a twisted base, all in marble. The water flows from cherub mouths into the catch basin, and then drains under the flagstones. It was sculpted by artist Petar Martinov from Milano.
