It must be remembered that South West Rocks is NOT the same coastal town as it was over a hundred years ago. While there are 'only' 21 names listed, it is good to remember, a) that is a significant number from the small population of 1914; and b) while the Army is well represented, the Navy, and the RAAF (Royal Australian Air Force - fledgling at the time) also had local representatives.

The two white marble plaques on the granite obelisk have the following inscriptions on them; with the southern one reading:

	In Memory of Our
	  - Fallen -
No1213	Pte A. Sanders	1st Batt
	Lth Thompson	18th . .
  4343	Pte A. Edwards	2nd . .

  2482	Dvr H. Dennis	37th . .
	Trp L. Plummer	6th LTH

  2540	.. W. Crossingham . .
   730	Dvr J. Flanagan	45th . .
  7518	Pte S.R. Plummer 34th. .

The similar shaped white marble plaque on the western face of the obelisk reads:

At the start of the slightly meandering, but short path, from the south, to the Cenotaph, is a small angular, rectangular plinth with a bronze plaque that was placed in 2015, as a 100 year commemoration for ANZACs at Gallipoli, in 1915. It reads:

SOUTH WEST ROCKS RSL SUB BRANCH
		-----------
		 THE SPIRIT
		    LIVES
		 2014-2018
		-----------
In memory of those who gave their lives
for Australia in World War One

Their sacrifice and contribution to the Nation will never be forgotten.
This Memorial Pathway Opened by Captain M.J. McCormack, Royal Australian Navy
