While Phoenix was a collection of hay farms, Florence Junction had a significant population and was a way stop between the mines to the north and Florence and Tucson to the south. Now no one lives at the junction, it is but a bend in the road between metropolitan Phoenix and points east. With the increase traffic, and the need for speed, the 60 has been realigned. This gray metal disk is a short way off the old alignment. Across the top is stamped ADOT ROW 2008. Below that are the numerals 7317 with the 3 curiously horizontal. Through the middle is 1204 + 60.02. On the bottom is L8 38862 U 060 - C - 800. The disk is located approximately 51 feet south of the southern edge of the old road and 831 feet southeast of the intersection of the old road and Queen Valley Road at an angle of 304 degrees.
