The bust was erected by the Kolpingfamily of St. Martin Lahnstein in 1990 cause their 150th jubilee.

"Blessed Adolph Kolping (8 December 1813 — 4 December 1865) was a German Roman Catholic priest and the founder of the Kolping Association. He led the charge for providing and promoting social support for workers in industrialized cities while also working to promote the dignities of workers in accordance with the social magisterium of the faith.
The beatification for the late priest commenced on 21 March 1934 and he was later titled as Venerable in 1989. His beatification was celebrated under Pope John Paul II on 27 October 1991 in Saint Peter's Square; his liturgical feast is not affixed to the date of his death as is the norm but rather on 6 December."

Kirche für Christen aller Konfessionen. Wir wollen Bildung vermitteln, sozialen
Ideen Taten folgen lassen und Geselligkeit pflegen in einer Gesellschaft, die
das Gespräch miteinander und das Erlebnis in der Gemeinschaft braucht. Wir
wollen Anwalt sein für junge Familien und auch Menschen, die im Alter ihren
Lebenspartner verloren haben, eine Heimat bieten. Wir wollen arbeiten mit
Menschen, die mitten im Leben stehen und wollen auch jungen Leuten, die am
Beginn des Berufsweges stehen einen Halt bieten. In unserer Arbeit sind wir
versucht, uns am Leitbild des Kolpingwerkes Deutschland zu orientieren. Bildung,
Religiösität, Solidarität und Geselligkeit sind die Säulen, welche unser
Programm prägen
Unser Alltag spielt sich überwiegend im Pfarrzentrum
am Europaplatz ab. Hier treffen sich zwei Jungkolpinggruppen zu wöchentlichen
Gruppenstunden. Außerdem gibt es zwei Familienkreise sowie die Gruppe der jungen
Familien. Die jungen Familien treffen sich monatlich einmal an einem
Freitagabend (zu sog. "Homestories") und die Familienkreise ebenfalls monatlich
regelmässig. Seit 2002 gibt es auch einen Seniorenkreis "Kolping Ü 60", der an
jedem dritten Donnerstag eines jeden Monats um 17 Uhr zu Stammtischen und
Unternehmungen unter der Devise "Lerne Deine Heimat" zu Fahrten und Treffen
zusammen kommt. . Im Frühjahr, Sommer und Herbst gibt es regelmässig an den dritten Donnerstagen eines jeden Monats Halbtages-Busfahrten. Abfahrt des Busses ist jeweils um 13 Uhr am Amtsgericht Niederlahnstein, am Salhofplatz Oberlahnstein sowie am Pfarrzentrum Europaplatz im Stadtteil Oberlahnstein."
