C'est dans un souci de propager l'Évangile et de répondre aux besoins spirituels des Cambodgiens vivant dans la région parisienne que le pasteur S. TRY a étendu son ministère méthodiste de Strasbourg vers Paris en 1988 en créant l'EPMK de Paris. Son premier lieu de culte fut la paroisse Saint-Marcel de l'Église luthérienne à Paris près du jardin du Luxembourg.
L'anglais John Wesley se trouve à l'origine du méthodisme, le dernier mouvement important issu de la Réforme. Avec John Wesley, le piétisme atteint les masses populaires anglo-saxonnes du XVllle siècle et créé une nouvelle Eglise, l'Eglise Méthodiste, qui joue un rôle intéressant au sein de l'Eglise universelle. Le fondateur de cette nouvelle Eglise, John Wesley, naît le 17 juin 1703 à Epworth (Lincolnshire), au foyer d'un pasteur de l'Eglise anglicane.
