Officially Opened by
Luke Hartsuyker MP Councillor Janet Hayes
Federal Minister for COWPER Mayor of KEMPSEY
Wednesday 1st February, 2006
Luke Hartsuyker (b. 1959) has been successfully elected to the rural (Federal) Seat of Cowper, on the north coast of NSW, each three years since 2001. Since September 2015 he has held a few Ministerial appointments. [At the time of the Opening of the Marine Rescue building he didn't hold any Ministerial position.] Hon. Luke Hartsuyker M.P.
While there may seem to be a bit of cross-over in the responsibilities and actions between the Marine Rescue Trial Bay volunteer service, and the nearby South West Rocks Surf Life Saving Club, the Marine Rescue service is particularly for those who have headed off-shore in a boat. As such, while they do have a couple of 'wave runner' jet-skis, they have the bigger 'Trial Bay 30' Rescue boat at their service. They have a regular broadcast of the weather and surf conditions over the bar to the entry of the Macleay River.
Unfortunately, due to the actions of boaties, there has been some lose of life over the years, but the Marine Rescue service certainly does their best to turn a bad situation around to where people, and possibly their vessel, can be recovered. Missing Diver
