This is a great museum to visit as it is very well organized with large displays of an array of items designated in specific topic areas. There is also an outside area where this sheepherder wagon is located.

Sheep ranches with herds in excess of 20,000 head were known in Magrath in the early 1900's. The sheep were used for the production of wool and were owned and operated by the first settlers to the area, mostly Mormons that came to work on the irrigation canal and were paid a small wage and given land in exchange for their labors.

Though this sheep header wagon may not date back to that time it was still necessary for carrying some much need comforts.

The Leroy wood burning cook stove is inside the wagon, and most likely dates back to the early to mid 1900s. It has a reasonably preserved white enamel oven door with a temperature gauge also it has the name Leroy on the door. The entire stove is cast iron with four cooking surfaces, using a cast iron "lifter" would be necessary. There is a stove pipe that would have extended through the roof of the wagon. It was a challenge to photograph this Leroy stove as it sets high in the wagon. K did assist being taller than I am and even climbed aboard to get better shots.
