EN: This life size bronze statue of a dog stands on a stone pyramid in front of Wettstein Schoolhouse in Basel.
The statue is labeled "Mali" on the pedestal. At first I thought this would be the name of the dog, who may also have a special story, but it turned out that Mali is a common short form for the Malinois breed, a variant of the Belgian Shepherd Dog.
DE: Diese lebensgrosse Bronzestatue eines Hundes steht auf einer Steinpyramide vor dem Wettsteinschulhaus in Basel.
Die Statue ist am Sockel mit "Mali" beschriftet. Ich dachte erst, das wäre der Name des Hundes, der vielleicht auch eine spezielle Geschichte hat, aber es stellte sich heraus das Mali eine übliche Kurzform für die Rasse Malinois ist, eine Variante des Belgischen Schäferhundes.
