A confederate artillery site set up to guard the Winyah Bay during the Civil War. It was poorly manned and when the Union arrived by sea it was abandoned and never saw any action. The Union attacked the site to find no one there.
You have to enter the Belle Island Yacht Club through their gates. It is private property but you are allowed to visit the site.
