"With its 53 meters high, the model of the Ariane 5 rocket of the Cité de l'Espace is real size.
Its two side boosters, called "EAP" (Powder Acceleration Ramps) are used during the first two minutes of takeoff to pull the rocket off the ground.
The main stage, powered by a tank that makes up the majority of the launcher, allows the rocket to cross the dense layers of the atmosphere.
Then the last floor, located at the bottom of the cap, gives the necessary impetus to the orbit of satellites in space.
In operation since 1996, Ariane 5 is launched from Kourou in French Guiana.
Like all launchers, it is used only once, which means that you have to build a new one before each launch!
Ariane 5 carries only satellites, it is not "qualified" to carry astronauts on board. "
