Fire At Government House
Three engines from the Adelaide Fire Brigade were rushed to Government
House shortly before 1 o'clock this morning, in response to a summons by Captain Greyville Baird, AD.C. to the Governor (Sir Alexander Hore-Ruthven).
It is believed that an elctric radiator in a room in the sleeping quarters fell over. Bedclothes were ignited by the heat, and the flames spread to other fixtures.
Firemen were on ths scene before the fire had obtained a. dangerous bold, and were able to control it with chemical extinguishers before much damage had been done. The damage was confined to the one room, but firemen remained on duty to see that no smouldering fabrics blazed up.
