Hrušovany u Brna leží na rozraní kraje slováckého, horáckého a hanáckého jižne 20 km od Brna.
První písemná zmínka je z roku 1252, kdy byla obec darována Bockem z Obran nove založenému klášteru ždárskému. Zdejší území, jeho výhodná poloha prímo nabízela k usídlení prvních obyvatel již pred 6000 lety . Toto území bylo nejen duležitou križovatkou obchodní, ale i jednotlivých kultur. V roce 1606 byla obec pripojena k olomouckému biskupství. O sto let pozdeji, v roce 1702, koupil Hrušovany Filip ze Sinzendorffa. Obec zažila útrapy války tricetileté, ale též pruchod francouzských vojáku.
Do vývoje Hrušovan významne zasáhla stavba železnice Brno – Víden v roce 1839 a vybudování cukerní rafinerie v roce 1882.
Po druhé svetové válce zde vznikaly závody a provozovny. V roce 1949 zde byla zapocata težba písku a šterku. Hrušovany se staly jednou z nejprumyslovejších obcí v okolí.
Do kulturní historie obce se nesmazatelne zapsaly pobyty spisovatele A. Mrštíka v letech 1884 – 1886, který ucil na místní škole, P. Bezruce, návštevující svou sestru H.Vaškovou, ucitelku v místní škole. Své rodice navštevoval v letech 1882 - 1883 T. G. Masaryk. Do Hrušovan zajíždel i pozdeji jako prezident republiky, kdy pobýval na zámku v Židlochovicích. V roce 1886 se v obci narodila Marie Trnková, dcera místního správce školy. Byla to vynikající sociální pracovnice žijící v Brne. Pracovala v Ceské zemské péci o mládež, Odboru ochrany matek a kojencu a byla autorkou celé rady prací se sociální a zdravotnickou tématikou.
Hrušovany u Brna již v minulosti díky výstavbe železnice a cukerní rafinerie se postupne rozrustaly. Po roce 1945 zacala výstavba rodinných domu , v sedmdesátých letech 20.stol. pak i výstavba sídlište.Výstavba rodinných domu pokracuje i dnes.Celkem je v obci 574 domu z nichž je 524 rodinných a 46 bytových domu. Pokud se týká obcanské vybavenosti je zde vybudovaná kompletní infrastruktura( plyn,el. rozvody,pitná voda, kanalizace vcetne cisticky odpadních vod, telefonní a televizní rozvody).
V obci byla vždy velká koncentrace prumyslu která zajištovala velké množství pracovních príležitostí . Po roce 1990 nekteré provozovny ukoncily svoji výrobu ale dnes se postupne do obce vrací nové prumyslové firmy. Z nejvýznamnejších organizací pusobící v obci:

Zemedelské družstvo hospodarí zde na 56 ha . Pestuje ozimou pšenici, jarní jecmen, repku a slunecnici. V živocišné výrobe chová prasata. Družstvo též poskytuje služby i pro obyvatele – polní práce, doprava, prodej nafty.
V obci je základní škola, materská škola. Je zde místní knihovna a Zdravotní stredisko se šesti lékari a lékárnou.
V oblasti telovýchovy tu máme sportovní areál, fotbalové hrište,sokolovna
Služby zajištuje Nákupní stredisko,a další obchody.
Je zde velmi dobré vlakové spojení do Brna ale i Breclavi. Nedávná rekonstrukce železnice zajištuje vysoké kvality služeb do budoucnosti. Autobusová doprava spojuje cestující s okolními obcemi.

Hrušovany near Brno is situated at the edge of the Slovacko, Horácké and Hanác region south 20 km from Brno.
The first written mention dates back to 1252, when the village was donated by Bocka z Obran to the newly founded Ždárský monastery. The local territory, its convenient location was directly offered for the settlement of the first inhabitants 6,000 years ago. This area was not only an important crossroads of business but also of individual cultures. In 1606 the village was connected to the Olomouc bishopric. A hundred years later, in 1702, Hrušovany Filip bought from Sinzendorff. The village experienced the tribulations of the thirty-year war, but also the passage of French soldiers.
The construction of the railway Brno - Vienna in 1839 and the construction of the sugar refinery in 1882 significantly affected the development of Hrušovan.
After World War II, there were races and establishments. In 1949 the mining of sand and gravel began. Hrušovany became one of the most industrialized municipalities in the area.
In the cultural history of the village, the writers A. Mrštík spent 1884-1886 and studied at the local school, P. Bezruc, visiting his sister H.Vašková, a teacher in the local school. His parents visited TG Masaryk in 1882-1883. He also traveled to Hrušovan as President of the Republic, when he stayed at Židlochovice Chateau. In 1886 Marie Trnková, the daughter of the local school administrator, was born in the village. She was an excellent social worker living in Brno. She worked in the Czech Land Conservation for Youth, the Department of Protection of Mothers and Infants and was the author of a whole range of social and health care work.
Hrušovany u Brna has grown in the past thanks to the construction of the railway and the sugar refinery. After 1945 began construction of family houses, in the 1970s. then the construction of housing estates. Construction of family houses continues today.There are 574 houses in the municipality, of which 524 are family houses and 46 apartment buildings. As far as the civic amenities are concerned, there is built a complete infrastructure (gas, electricity, drinking water, sewerage including sewage treatment plant, telephone and television distribution).
There was always a large concentration of industry in the village that provided a great deal of work. After 1990, some plants have ceased their production, but nowadays industrial companies are gradually returning to the village. Of the most important organizations operating in the municipality:

The agricultural cooperative manages 56 hectares here. Grows winter wheat, spring barley, rape and sunflower. In livestock breeding she has pigs. The cooperative also provides services for residents - fieldwork, transport, oil sales.
There is a primary school, nursery school in the village. There is a local library and a health center with six doctors and a pharmacy.
In the field of physical education there is a sports area, a football field, a solarium
The service is provided by the Shopping Center and other shops.
There is a very good train connection to Brno and Breclav. A recent railway reconstruction provides high quality services for the future. Bus transport connects travelers with surrounding communities.
The municipal office building is one-storey with an orange facade.
