The plague reads:
ST PETER'S ANGLICAN CATHEDRAL
The first Bishop of Adelaide, Augustus Short, purchased this site in 1862 and commissioned English architect William Butterfield to design a cathedral in the Gothic Revival style. The plans were purchased and then enlarged by local architect Edward John Woods. The Foundation Stone was laid on 29 June (St Peter's Day) 1869. It was completed 35 years later, having been built in five stages.
