Trail of Life has been created by artist Zahir Shaikh with input from a number of community groups from the local area.
The groups attended a series of workshops where they were tasked with creating mosaic designs, which form the top of the sculpture.
The groups involved in the project were: Castle Donington Rotary Club, Castle Donington Wcfmen's Institute, Coleorton Women's Institute, Diseworth Heritage Centre, Quilt Together Shepshed, Ruddington Wednesday Morning Club, Swadlincote 50+ Forum, East Midlands Airport employees"
