On October 2, 1983, Officers Richard Stratman and Thomas McNeff were killed when their helicopter crashed in a rainstorm. They were on their way to the town of Catalina for a medical emergency. This memorial is located a short distance from the crash site in a cotton field. This waymark, and a geocache, is located on the side of a freeway overpass. Traffic is a serious challenge in visiting this waymark. Be careful.
