A Douglas Fir tree on Observatory Hill near Victoria BC is eating an old No Smoking sign. Sap obscures the letters but "No Smoking" and "Canada" are just visible.

Observatory Hill is the site of the National Research Council Herzberg Institute of Astrophysics and the 72 inch Plaskett Telescope. This was the largest telescope in the world when it was opened in 1917. An attractive hike is the climb through the woods 700 feet up the hill. We noticed the omnivorous tree along the road near one of the cabins on the hill.
Type of Tree: Douglas Fir
