The plaque is located on the wall of the Old Dock House situated at the side of the Caldon Canal near Lock 13 in Cheddleton.
The building was restored by the British Waterways Board in 1985.

The inscription on the plaque reads as follows;

'THE OLD DOCK HOUSE
THE FIRST REAL HOME OF
METHODISM IN CHEDDLETON.
SUNDAY SERVICES WERE HELD HERE
FOR SEVERAL YEARS FROM THE 1790'S
RESTORED BY
BRITISH WATERWAYS BOARD
1985'
