Cregneash can be found in the southwest of the Island on Mull Hill between Port Erin and Port St. Mary.

The village was established as a living museum in 1938 when Henry Kelly’s Cottage was restored and opened to the public. Museum is owned and operated by The Manx National Trust and comprises over Thatched Cottage and 300 acres of farmland. The village shows how a traditional Manx village would have looked for many centuries of its past. The way in which the villages would have farmed and turned their hand to other traditional crafts.

During the summer season the cottage are open and inside visitors can enjoy demonstrations of domestic crafts and hear stories of the rugged self-sufficient lifestyles of the villagers of the past.

The village was used to film some of the scenes in “Waking Ned Devine”, “Stormbreaker” and “Keeping Mum”.

The village is one of 26 registered Dark Sky Sites on the Isle of Man.
