This dark brown brick building was the 'main' Station for Katoomba, being manned at that time by Retained, On-Call Fire Fighters. It still has 'mission brown' 'bi-fold doors' for the two vehicle bays. Entry for the Administrative Office staff is around the back. It is not used directly for fighting fires anymore, but as an Administrative function.

** From October 2005 this has become the 'Metropolitan West 3 Zone Office' of Fire & Rescue NSW. ** It covers the Blue Mountains, Lithgow, and Hawkesbury regions.

The Fire Station 'proper' for Katoomba is actually around the corner, on Cascade Street, and 'backs onto' the Zone Office Building, and they have occupied that new building from October, 2005; That building can be seen on the FaceBook page website (visit link) . That one is manned by x 5 permanent Fire Fighters, and x 14 Retained Fire Fighters.
