There is 'Tap'n'Go' entry to the Katoomba Rail Station platform; so, if you don't plan on catching a train, it shouldn't be a problem to wander onto the platform, and take a photo of the sign. [It just be a 'bit awkward' if someone is sitting on the seat directly in front the Elevation Sign.]
The sign was in good condition.
