The Masonic Lodge retained the upper floor for their own use and leased the ground floor as commercial space. The ground floor facade of this late nineteenth century structure was constructed with cast iron while the upper story was sheathed in sheet metal, a fashionable late nineteenth century building material. Emulating elaborate carved stone, the sheet metal provided a decorative, distinctive and economical facade to the Main Street elevation. The Mitchell Street masonry elevation is capped with a continuation of the metal cornice. The angled opening allowed access from two avenues.
