Legs de la Chambre de commerce de Québec pour souligner son bicentenaire et le 400ième de la ville de Québec.
Sur le socle central de granit tangue une barque feuille. À distance, dans l’enceinte de plantes et de galets, deux bollards se dressent. Une phrase est gravée sur chacun : Il nous est arrivé des aventures du bout du monde – Quand on vient de loin ce n’est pas pour rester là.
Il y a dans le passage de la barque en feuille, le mouvement initié par le sens du texte de Saint-Denis-Garneau : Si on ne reste pas là, on devient autre chose! D’une autre manière, le passage de la barque en feuille est à l’image de la transformation du bassin Louise en un espace vert récréatif. La disposition de l’ensemble invite l’observateur à se déplacer, à monter à bord de la barque-feuille. Les plantes ont été choisies pour leur pouvoir de suggérer des odeurs (en lien avec le Marché) et le mouvement de l’eau (en lien avec l’iconographie).
La barque-feuille et les bollards sont en laiton avec une patine sur la surface qui ajoute à l’effet monument en ce lieu historique.

Legacy of the Quebec Chamber of Commerce to mark its bicentenary and the 400th anniversary of Quebec City.
In the middle of a granite base, a small leaf boat tosses. At a distance, in the enclosure of plants and pebbles, two bollards stand up. A sentence is engraved on each one: It has happened to us adventures of the end of the world - When one comes from far away it is not to stay there.
There is in the passage of the barque leaf, the movement initiated by the meaning of the text of Saint-Denis-Garneau: If we do not stay there, we become something else! In another way, the passage of the boat in sheet is in the image of the transformation of the basin Louise in a recreational green space. The arrangement of the whole invites the observer to move, to board the boat-leaf. The plants were chosen for their power to suggest odors (in connection with the Market) and the movement of water (in connection with the iconography).
The boat-leaf and bollards are brass with a patina on the surface that adds to the monument effect in this historic place.
