The sign is right beside the wooden boardwalk of the Reserve; and right beside a Strangler Fig. The sign reads:

"The Fig genus (Ficus) is one of the largest in the plant kingdom.

"Most fig stems exude a milky juice. young tender foliage is usually edible as a green vegetable. Fig Flowers are on the inside of the figs and are pollinated by tiny fig wasps. When the figs mature as fruit they are usually edible, but may not be palatable.Fig fruits are a major part of the diet of many birds, including the native pigeons. Birds and animals eat the fruit, and disperse the seeds around the forests.

"Strangler Figs begin as germinated seeds which are dropped by birds and lodge on the trunks of other trees. From here they send down roots, enlarge their stems, and eventually enclose the supporting tree in a usually fatal suffocating embrace.

"There are six Fig species recorded in the Park. They vary from low trees (less than 15 m tall) to high buttress trees, and include the strangler figs.

The Fig species at Kooloonbung are:
* Creek Sandpaper Fig (Ficus coronata)
* Sandpaper Fig (Ficus fraseri)
* Small-leaved Fig (Ficus obliqua)
* Port Jackson Fig (Ficus rubiginosa)
* Deciduous Fig (Ficus superba var. henneana)
* Strangler Fig (Ficus watkinsiana)
