"The memorial is located 200 meters from the VC Corner Australian Cemetery on the same road to Fromelles, where the German lines were located during the Battle of Fromelles, 5533 Australians and 1400 British this battle which takes place on July 19, 1916.
The memorial was inaugurated on July 5, 1998 by Bruce Scott, Australian Minister of Veterans Affairs and Ian McLachlan, Australian Minister of Defense. This inauguration took place as part of ceremonies for the 80th anniversary of the end of the First World War.
The monument consists of a sculpture of Peter Corlett representing Sergeant Simon Fraser carrying across the no man's land, a wounded comrade. A replica of this statue was erected in the Shrine of Remembrance in Melbourne, Australia. "
