EN: The parish church St. Nikolas in Hofstetten is located in the west of the village center at the road to Flüh. It was mentioned for the first time in 1376. The present building dates from 1608.
The sundial is located in the upper half of the church tower between the tower clock and the openings of the belfry. It has a rectangular dial with Roman numerals in the greenish framing and a sun on top. The sundial does not have enough space at this point and is therefore much too close to the upper cornice. Presumably, it was only later attached there.
DE: Die Pfarrkirche St. Niklaus in Hofstetten befindet sich im Westen des Dorfkerns an der Strasse nach Flüh. Sie wurde 1376 erstmals erwähnt. Das heutige Gebäude stammt von 1608.
Die Sonnenuhr befindet sich in der oberen Hälfte des Kirchturm zwischen der Turmuhr und den Öffnungen der Glockenstube. Sie hat ein rechteckiges Zifferblatt mit römischen Zahlen in der grünlichen Umrahmung und eine Sonne an der Spitze. Die Sonnenuhr hat an dieser Stelle eigentlich zuwenig Platz und befindet sich deshalb viel zu nah am oberen Gesims. Vermutlich wurde sie erst nachträglich dort angebracht.
