At the top of the mural is "Dawson" and underneath is "1881 Centennial 1981". Below the writing is a small lake with a fisherman in a small boat, this is Navarro Mills Lake.

Below on the left is an obelisk marker in front of a tree, surrounde by a black fence, there is a black sign next to it that gives the history of "Battle Creek Burial Ground". The marker is for a mass grave in which 18 men, killed by indians, are buried.

To the right of the burial ground is Dawson's Main street.

On the far right is Britton Dawson's Home (founder of the town). This building burned in 1978.
