Gordon Public School (-ex), Gordon, NSW, AUstralia - Time Capsules on Waymarking.com

I would imagine that when the first Time Capsule was placed on this western wall of the sandstone block building, that any possibility of the School closing less than twenty years later, would have been the furtherest from 'their' minds. [Similarly, I would not have expected the High School that I attended closed some 30 years after I left!]

The 'first' Time Capsule has a well oxidised small brass plaque, with the following engraved into it:

 A TIME CAPSULE
WAS PLACED BEHIND
   THIS STONE
  5th JUNE 1971

The latter Time Capsule, embedded at the closure of the Gordon Public School is behind a larger cast bronze plaque, just to the left of the 1971 Capsule. It reads:

  TO MARK THE CLOSURE OF
   GORDON PUBLIC SCHOOL
BY STATE GOVERNMENT DECREE,
 A TIME CAPSULE WAS PLACED
  BEHIND THIS PLAQUE BY
   THE SCHOOL CAPTAINS
   ON 11 NOVEMBER 1989
THE CAPSULE IS TO OPENED ON 5 JUNE 2071
1871			1989
