It features the hallmarks of the Queen Anne style including irregular massing, a variety of exterior finishes and ornately detailed woodwork. Stephen Augustus Pace, the proprietor of the locally prominent S.A. Pace Wholesale Grocery Company, presented the house to his daughter Theresa and her husband Richard Mays. In 1915 the Mays conveyed the house to Homer and Mary Pace. Homer Pace derived his wealth from involvement in oil leases.
