"The Designer Outlet Roermond is a factory outlet center in the Dutch town of Roermond, 5 kilometers from the German-Dutch border.The center is part of the McArthurGlen Group, based in London, UK, and opened in November 2001.
The Designer Outlet Roermond is the largest factory outlet center in Northern Europe. On an area of 46,700 square meters, goods from previous year and sample collections as well as surplus stocks are offered in about 200 shops. In addition to fashion and accessories, the Designer Outlet Roermond offers cosmetics, sporting goods, household goods, home textiles and eleven restaurants and cafés. In 2013 there were approximately 4.6 million visitors to the outlet center. A significant proportion of visitors to the center, which is open 363 days a year, comes from Germany, especially on weekends and public holidays.
The Designer Outlet Roermond opened on November 21, 2001 in the former Ernst Casimir barracks area. For the opening, the center had a sales area of 19,000 square meters and housed 66 shops and seven catering service providers. In September 2005, the center was expanded by 9,000 square meters and 40 stores. A second extension of 7,200 square meters of retail space or 34 shops was completed in August 2011 as part of the third construction phase. A new car park, which created an additional 4,500 parking spaces, went into operation at the end of 2016. The fourth construction phase, with an additional 11,500 square meters or 50 stores, was opened in April 2017, making the Designer Outlet Roermond the largest outlet center in Northern Europe with 46,700 square meters of retail space."
