Edward R. Pecukonis was a Colonel in the U.S. Army and served in Vietnam. He was born December 19, 1937 and passed away on January 9th 1999, he was 62 years of age.
”Montana State Veterans Cemetery is owned and operated by Montana Department of Military Affairs, and is located on the grounds of Fort Harrison.
History
Montana State Veterans Cemetery was established in 1985 when the Montana State Legislature authorized the first state veterans cemetery to be located on Fort Harrison, near Helena. In 1986, the United States Congress authorized the transfer of 62.5 acres of Federal land to the State of Montana for this new cemetery. The first burial was a World War I veteran on September 8, 1987.”
