Originally built in 1852 as the First Methodist Church of Batavia. The building is constructed of locally quarried limestone and is in a Greek Revival style. The building served as a church until 1887 when a new Methodist Church was built in Batavia. The building was used from that time as McWayne School in the Batavia Comunity School District until 1976. In 1978 it was purchased and converted into offices for an insurance agency. The building was listed on the National Register of Historic Places in 1982.
