The Beijing Railway Station is located in central Beijing. The station links the capital of China to north-east China, to Shanghai in the south, and is the departure point for international journeys to Mongolia and on to Russia. The station is connected to the Beijing subway system and to Beijing bus routes.
The station was completed in 1959, at that time it was the largest station in China. In design the architecture of the station blends traditional Chinese and socialist realist influence.
The most recent stats I could find: 2003, 30 million passengers annually. A busy station.
Only ticket holders can enter the station. The entrance consists of a dozen or more ticket counters. I suggest buying a ticket online, way in advance. To be frank, the station is extremely noisy, effectively zero English, and many, many people. Plan your trip.
