"Earful Tower - Disney World, FL" Waymark

Long Description:
Earful Tower was built in 1988 to promote the Disney/MGM Studios, which opened a year later. Every movie studio in California had a water tower on its lot, so Disney decided to keep with the tradition and add one here. It really has no function, as it does not hold water. The tower stands 130' tall and the diameter is 8.5'. Every Christmas season, the tank is adorned with a Santa hat. After over 10 years as the icon for Disney/MGM Studios, Earful Tower was replaced by the Sorcerer Mickey hat within the park. In January 2008, the park officially changed names to Disney's Hollywood Studios, and as such the water tower received a new paint job.

The best place to see the tower up close and photograph it is on the Backlot Tour at Disney's Hollywood Studios.
